Corteva Agriscience, through its Corteva Catalyst investment platform, has secured exclusive global rights to Phenix software, developed by Progeny Drone. This acquisition, completed in early 2025, marks a significant advancement in precision crop management.

Phenix software integrates rapid aerial survey mapping via drone technology with high-resolution image analytics, providing essential data for quantifying crop responses to various management practices and environmental conditions. This technology is poised to transform how Corteva’s field research scientists worldwide conduct digital assessments.

Key benefits of the Phenix software include the ability to reduce data processing times dramatically at the field edge and precisely quantify the impact of new product trials. This will not only enhance crop health and yield but also improve weed management strategies. Furthermore, the software is expected to play a crucial role in the development of Corteva’s Biologicals business.

Corteva plans an initial deployment of the software for its crop protection field scientist drone pilots globally, with subsequent integration into the company’s agronomic and commercial trial research divisions. This approach aims to streamline infrastructure requirements, simplify workflows, and provide seamless connectivity with existing data repositories and tools.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
