Atticus and FMC settle chlorantraniliprole dispute, opening new market entry

Atticus and FMC have resolved a legal dispute over the insecticide chlorantraniliprole (CTPR), with Atticus withdrawing its declaratory judgment action against FMC. The settlement clears the way for Atticus to enter the CTPR market starting December 7, 2025.
Chlorantraniliprole is widely used in global crop protection for controlling key pests across multiple commodities. Atticus’ entry introduces a new competitor in the market, which could influence pricing, product adoption, and crop protection strategies.
Randy Canady, CEO of Atticus, said the company aims to offer “a portfolio that sits parallel to existing CTPR branded products,” providing growers with additional options for routine insect control. The company plans to raise product awareness ahead of the upcoming season to ensure competitive positioning.

The settlement is likely to have implications for distributors and growers who rely on CTPR, as Atticus’ market entry may alter the competitive landscape and influence agronomic planning.
Atticus, founded in 2014, is an independent manufacturer of crop protection and specialty chemistries. FMC is a global crop protection company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
