Valtra reaches 1,000th CVT production milestone at Finland factory after major investment

AGCO’s Valtra brand has produced its 1,000th continuously variable transmission (CVT) at its Suolahti, Finland, manufacturing facility, marking a significant milestone less than a year after the company commissioned a €38 million ($43 million) expansion of the plant. The transmissions are used in Valtra tractors and selected models produced under AGCO’s Fendt and Massey Ferguson brands.

The company said the investment supports its strategy of manufacturing critical powertrain components closer to tractor assembly operations while increasing vertical integration. According to Valtra, the expanded CVT facility has quickly achieved stable series production, meeting targets for quality, efficiency and delivery reliability. Transmission Plant Manager Kullervo Mansikkala said reaching the 1,000-unit mark demonstrates that the new production line has achieved its intended performance within its first year of operation.
AGCO described the expansion as one of the largest investments in Valtra’s history and said it reinforces Suolahti’s position as a high-technology manufacturing hub. The company added that local production of CVT transmissions strengthens Valtra’s “Made in Finland” manufacturing strategy while providing a platform for future growth and closer collaboration with AGCO’s global manufacturing network.
