Envision Energy delivers low-carbon ammonia certificates to PepsiCo for Asia-Pacific fertilizer supply

Envision Energy has delivered low-carbon ammonia environmental attribute certificates (EACs) to PepsiCo for use across its Asia-Pacific operations, according to World Fertilizer, extending PepsiCo’s growing network of decarbonized fertilizer supply agreements into the APAC region.

The certificates enable carbon accounting for ammonia-based fertilizer used in PepsiCo’s agricultural supply chain by verifying that an equivalent volume of ammonia was produced using lower-carbon methods. EACs function as a market-based mechanism to reduce Scope 3 emissions without requiring physical delivery of the low-carbon product to each end user.

The deal adds to a series of low-carbon fertilizer agreements PepsiCo has signed in 2026. In April, the company partnered with CF Industries for certified low-carbon UAN for its U.S. potato supply chain. PepsiCo also signed offtake agreements with TalusAg for 30,000 metric tons per year of low-carbon ammonia and with Fertiberia and Yara for similar supply across European and Latin American markets. Combined, these deals are expected to cover roughly 50% of PepsiCo’s global fertilizer usage by 2030.

Envision Energy, based in China, is one of the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturers and has expanded into green hydrogen and ammonia through its Envision Green Technology unit. The company operates renewable energy projects across Asia and Europe.

The agreement signals that environmental attribute certificates are gaining traction as a pragmatic tool for food companies to decarbonize agricultural supply chains in regions where physical low-carbon ammonia supply is not yet available.
