AGCO showcases autonomous machinery and AI tools aimed at boosting farm profitability

AGCO is showcasing a range of autonomous, artificial intelligence and mixed-fleet technologies designed to help farmers improve productivity and reduce operating costs as part of its annual Tech Day at Stewart Farms near Yorkville, Illinois. The Oct. 6–7 event brings the company’s precision agriculture technologies into live harvest conditions, with demonstrations spanning farm management, planting, crop protection, harvesting, fertilizer application and tillage.
The company’s PTx precision agriculture platform is central to the demonstrations. PTx FarmENGAGE connects equipment from different manufacturers through a common digital platform, while the Panorama intelligence platform combines machine and agronomic data. AGCO is also demonstrating Aurora, an AI assistant within Panorama that allows farmers to use voice or text queries to retrieve maps, reports and other operational insights.
AGCO is also highlighting autonomous operations during the harvest window, when labor shortages can make it difficult to complete several field operations within the same six-to-eight-week period. A Fendt IDEAL combine will operate alongside PTx’s OutRun autonomous technology for tillage and in-field harvest logistics, including autonomous grain carts. A Fendt Rogator will apply fertilizer following harvest, allowing nutrients to be incorporated before runoff losses occur. AGCO said its solutions are either commercially available or moving toward commercial availability.
The company is positioning the technology around mixed-fleet compatibility, allowing farmers to retrofit existing equipment rather than replace entire fleets. AGCO said this approach is intended to give farmers more flexibility in adopting precision agriculture technologies across equipment brands and vintages. The company is also demonstrating FarmerCore, its service model combining over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics and expanded on-farm support to reduce equipment downtime.
AGCO CEO Eric Hansotia said the company is focusing on technologies that deliver measurable returns under actual farming conditions rather than technology for its own sake. AGCO will provide a broader update on its strategy and precision agriculture business during an investor presentation on Oct. 6, including remarks from Hansotia and Damon Audia, president of PTx and corporate strategy.
