SICIT CEO Sergi Barrull targets Americas expansion with 3 key biostimulant platforms

Italian biostimulant producer SICIT Group has named Sergi Barrull chief executive officer, succeeding Massimo Neresini in a planned leadership transition aimed at faster international growth.
Barrull joined SICIT as general manager in July 2025. Neresini joined the company in 1988 and led it for about 20 years. The new SICIT CEO has more than two decades of experience in consulting, agricultural inputs and start-ups, including at Indigo Agriculture, where he built its microbial business unit and served as vice president and Europe commercial head.
SICIT will focus on strengthening its commercial organization and taking a more market-driven approach to product development. It plans to keep growing in Europe and Asia and to expand in North and South America through organic growth and acquisitions.
Innovation will center on three platforms: collagen-derived peptide fractions, Patagonian seaweed extracts and Moringa-based botanicals. The company says it will back new products with locally validated field data.
Acquisitions are reshaping the specialty nutrition market, with deals such as BRANDT’s purchase of Mexico’s Altiara extending biostimulant producers’ reach into the Americas.
