CF Industries: ammonium nitrate production has rocketed

In the first half of 2019, the American company CF Industries increased ammonia production by 5.2% to 5.228 million tons, while granular urea by 10.6% to 2.630 million tons, and ammonium nitrate – by 17.2% to 1.033 million tons.

However, the production of urea-ammonia mixture decreased by 4% to 3.226 million tons.

CF Industries forecasts that the demand for nitrogen fertilizers will be high in the United States in the near future, despite adverse weather conditions. It is expected that because of the floods the farmers will harvest the smallest corn crop this year, which will lead to higher prices for it. This will encourage farmers to increase corn cultivated areas in the next couple of years.
