An explosion has occurred at the Metafrax

An incident has occurred at the construction site of the new Ammonia-Urea-Melamine production facility at the Metafrax (Gubakha, Perm Krai).

According to eyewitnesses, a gas cylinder exploded during works on the construction site. This happened on Friday, November 8, 2019, at about 6 pm.

A 38-year-old worker named Vladimir died in the accident. He was taken to hospital but could not be saved. The sustained injuries were not compatible with life, he lost a lot of blood. Vladimir had come to the city of Gubakha from the Sverdlovsk region.

The Ammonia-Urea-Melamine complex, worth more than 950 million euros is currently being built for Metafrax. The complex is designed for a maximum annual production of up to 575 thousand tons of urea, 308 thousand tons of ammonia and 40 thousand tons of melamine. The project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
