Berezniki Azot will re-equip its reforming furnace

Azot branch of Uralchem in Berezniki (Perm region) has received the transfer collector for the technical re-equipment of the reforming furnace of ammonia unit No.1.

Transfer collector is the largest part of the reforming furnace, through which the vapor-gas mixture is transported. It was made to special order. The construction is able to work at high temperatures of 900-950 degrees Celsius. The new collector also has a water “jacket” responsible for cooling its body.

“Technical re-equipment of the reforming furnace is scheduled for this autumn. This work is performed every 20 years. All components have been purchased and delivered. Together with the collector, we will replace 504 reaction tubes, a catalyst, and a lining,” said Sergey Akimov, chief engineer of the enterprise.

The company will allocate 723 million rubles (approximately $12.5 million) for the technical re-equipment of the reforming furnace of ammonia unit No.1.

The reforming furnace is a complex engineering construction in which one of the stages of ammonia production takes place, namely the production of hydrogen from methane.
