The project will use NX STAMI Urea technology with an ultra-low-energy design aimed at cutting steam and cooling water consumption.

MAIRE’s Nextchem has been selected to provide technology licensing, a Process Design Package and proprietary equipment for a new 3,150 metric tons per day urea plant in China. The award was made by an unnamed international company, with Nextchem delivering the project through its nitrogen technology licensor Stamicarbon.

The plant will use Nextchem’s NX STAMI Urea technology and Ultra-Low Energy design. According to the company, the configuration can reduce steam consumption by 35% and cooling water use by 16% compared with conventional urea production processes, supported by high-pressure steam utilization and an advanced pool reactor design.

The contract strengthens Nextchem’s position in China, one of the world’s largest fertilizer markets, and expands the deployment of its proprietary nitrogen technologies. Nextchem Managing Director Fabio Fritelli said the award demonstrates the competitiveness of the company’s urea technology and its ability to provide solutions focused on energy efficiency and operating performance.
