Brazil fertilizer imports line-up climbs 10% to 6.2 million tons with Santos taking key share

Brazil fertilizer imports scheduled at the country’s ports totaled 6.199 million metric tons in a line-up compiled from October 1 to 9, 2026, according to maritime agency Williams Brasil, as reported by Safras & Mercado on October 14.
The port of Santos in São Paulo state accounts for the largest share, at 2.211 million metric tons, or about 36% of the total. Paranaguá in Paraná follows with 972,820 metric tons, about 16%. The remaining roughly 3 million metric tons are spread across other Brazilian ports. The survey counts vessels already berthed, ships anchored offshore waiting to dock, and arrivals expected through December 24, 2026.
The October figure is about 10% above the 5.617 million metric tons in Williams Brasil’s September line-up. The rise follows a weak September, when Brazil fertilizer imports slumped 30% as buyers faced the highest prices since 2022. The line-up shows scheduled cargoes, not completed discharges, and Williams Brasil did not break the total down by product.
Brazil imports most of the fertilizer it uses, so line-up data is an early signal of how much product will reach farms for the 2026/27 soybean season. Watch whether the scheduled volume converts into discharges as freight and phosphate costs stay high.
