CLAAS rolls out new tractor lineup for North America with models up to 450 horsepower

CLAAS has unveiled a new generation of tractors for the North American market, spanning 165 to 450 horsepower and targeting applications from livestock and mixed farming to large-scale row-crop production. The ARION 6, AXION 8 and AXION 9 were presented Sept. 1 at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa.

The three series share a redesigned cab, the CMATIC continuously variable transmission and a new generation of electronic drivetrain-management systems. CLAAS said the tractors are designed to reduce operator workload while improving fuel efficiency, field performance and connectivity. The company has also extended service intervals to as much as 750 hours and introduced expanded warranty coverage.

ARION 6 CMATIC: 165 to 205 horsepower

The new ARION 6 replaces the previous ARION 600 series and is aimed at livestock, mixed-farming, hay and forage, loader and transport applications.

The two new models produce 165 hp and 205 hp, respectively. CLAAS has equipped the six-cylinder tractors with its CMATIC continuously variable transmission and CLAAS POWER MANAGEMENT, while a CLAAS-built front axle suspension is designed to improve ride quality.

The ARION 6 also introduces features intended to make the tractors more versatile for loader operations, including a dedicated wheel-loader operating mode and dynamic steering. The company is offering a premium infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new cab includes improved visibility and ergonomics, with options including heated, ventilated and massage seats, four-point cab suspension and extensive LED lighting. CLAAS says cab noise levels can be as low as 67 dB(A).

AXION 8 CMATIC: 240 to 313 horsepower

The AXION 8 replaces the previous AXION 800 series and is positioned for higher-intensity applications including planting, tillage, grain-cart and forage operations.

The series covers 240 to 313 hp and brings several technologies previously associated with CLAAS’ larger tractors. Its new CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN system coordinates engine and transmission operation, while DYNAMIC POWER adjusts engine output according to operating conditions.

CLAAS is also introducing AUTO LOAD ANTICIPATION, which learns implement-load patterns and uses that information to anticipate changes in demand. The company said the system is intended to improve productivity and efficiency by automatically adapting the powertrain to changing field conditions.

The AXION 8 offers load-sensing hydraulics with flow of up to 54 gallons per minute, rear lift capacity of more than 22,000 pounds and a standard front hitch.

AXION 9 CMATIC: up to 450 horsepower

The AXION 9 is the flagship of the new lineup, with seven models ranging from 330 to 450 hp. The tractors are designed for heavy tillage, seeding and transport operations on large farms and by custom operators.

The series uses an 8.7-liter FPT six-cylinder engine and CMATIC transmission. Hydraulic flow reaches 97 gallons per minute, while rear lift capacity is nearly 25,000 pounds.

Fuel capacity reaches 188 gallons on wheeled AXION 9 models and 227 gallons on TERRA TRAC versions. Engine oil service intervals can reach 750 hours, according to CLAAS.

The AXION 9 is also available with the company’s TERRA TRAC half-track system. The configuration is designed to increase traction while reducing soil compaction compared with conventional wheeled tractors, particularly in demanding field conditions.

New cab and automation across the range

The three tractor series receive a common cab concept focused on reducing fatigue during extended operating periods. CLAAS has added storage, improved visibility and updated controls, while an optional second 12-inch touchscreen expands access to machine and implement functions.

Up to 22 LED work lights provide as much as 56,000 lumens. High-resolution camera integration and dynamic steering are also available.

The tractors use the CEBIS connect operating system to bring tractor controls, implement management and precision-farming functions into a touchscreen interface. Automation features include automatic headland management, guidance-line selection and intelligent implement control.

Connected farming and lower ownership costs

All three series are integrated with the CLAAS connect digital platform. Farmers can use the system to transfer work orders, monitor machines, check maintenance status and automatically document field operations. The platform also supports sharing guidance lines between compatible machines and remote display viewing for dealer service support.

The new tractors include integrated GPS guidance and ISOBUS compatibility, while automated implement-management functions are intended to reduce repetitive tasks and improve field consistency.

CLAAS has also extended maintenance intervals to as much as 750 hours. Each tractor includes MAXI CARE FOCUS, providing five years or 5,000 hours of component coverage on major drivetrain components. Customers can opt for MAXI CARE PROTECT, which extends comprehensive machine coverage to five years or 5,000 hours.

The ARION 6, AXION 8 and AXION 9 are now available for order through authorized CLAAS dealers across North America.
