EU pesticide reviews put U.S. crop protection inputs on alert

USDA’s September 2026 update tracks active ingredients and residue limits under review, giving U.S. growers and exporters advance notice of potential regulatory changes.
The European Union’s rolling review of pesticide active ingredients and maximum residue levels (MRLs) could affect the availability of crop-protection products and market access for U.S. agricultural exports, according to a September 2026 update from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) office in Brussels.
The report provides advance notice of substances undergoing renewal reviews that could face new restrictions or non-renewal. It outlines the status of EU review processes as of August 31, 2026, under the regulatory frameworks governing plant protection products and pesticide residues. FAS says early awareness can help U.S. farmers and other stakeholders assess potential risks and mitigate trade disruption.
The agency cautions that the list may not include every upcoming or completed review. It is seeking stakeholder feedback on the report and whether the quarterly update should continue to be distributed.
