Vylor reveals first-ever corn yield and stability trait with 3 bu/acre gains ahead of Oct 1 Corteva split

Corteva’s advanced seed and genetics spin-off, Vylor, has unveiled a corn innovation pipeline that includes the industry’s first trait designed specifically to improve both yield and yield stability. In field trials across the Americas, corn carrying the new trait delivered an average gain of 3 bushels per acre, with some plots reaching 10 bushels per acre above controls, the company said September 1 at the Farm Progress Show.
The announcement comes ahead of Corteva’s planned separation into two publicly traded companies on October 1, 2026. Vylor will house Pioneer, Brevant and regional seed brands, anchored in more than 100 years of breeding expertise and 4,000 germplasm patents.
The multi-year roadmap extends to 2035 with seven new technology platforms. Among them is a gene-edited multi-disease resistant corn product targeting Northern Corn Leaf Blight, Grey Leaf Spot, Southern Rust and Anthracnose Stalk Rot simultaneously. USDA regulatory authorization for the MDR corn is already in place, with a U.S. commercial launch targeted for 2028. Vylor also plans to introduce short-stature corn and a below-ground insect control platform with two proprietary non-Bt modes of action by 2031.
“Our pipeline changes the game through 2035,” said Sam Eathington, chief technology officer of the future Vylor. The company expects the corn portfolio to generate more than $2 billion in incremental revenue by 2035, including licensing income.
